Whisper Dictate is local, offline voice-dictation software for Windows and macOS, developed by Richard Bäcker ("we", "us"). The source code is publicly available under the PolyForm Free Trial License 1.0.0.
You may evaluate the Software free of charge for 14 days per machine (the in-app trial, one sign-up per person). After the trial a license is required for any use.
A Pro purchase grants one named user, for twelve months from purchase:
The license is per user; each person who uses the Software needs their own license. You may not resell, redistribute or host the Software or its builds.
Payments are processed by Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. for EUR). Pro is a yearly subscription of EUR 40 and renews automatically unless cancelled. You can cancel any time by email; access continues until the end of the paid period. No partial refunds after the 14-day guarantee window except where required by law.
Consumers may withdraw from the purchase within 14 days without giving a reason — email us and we refund in full. This voluntary guarantee exceeds your statutory rights and does not limit them.
The Software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, as detailed in the LICENSE. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent, gross negligence, personal injury, or statutory product liability.
The Software uses open-source libraries and open model weights under their own licenses, listed in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md. Speech models by NVIDIA are downloaded from Hugging Face under the NVIDIA Open Model License and OpenMDW-1.1 respectively; your use of those models is governed by those licenses.
